Fall Sports

The fall registration period will open up on Sunday, May 1^st and run through June 30^th.  In the past the registration period was in July, but communication was always difficult during summer vacation, so in an effort to ease the process, we are moving registration to the end of the school year, before summer vacations begins.  The Fall sports offered are Soccer, Cross Country, Volleyball, and Cheer.  The first week of the Fall Seasons would be the week of August 8^th.  Detailed schedules will not be out until a few weeks before the season.

·     OLGC Cheer will run through both Fall and Winter Season, there will not be a separate registration period for the Winter season as it has been in previous years.

• Winter Sport (Basketball, Bowling) Registration will be 9/1/22 – 9/30/22

• Spring Sport (Track & Field, Lacrosse, Baseball, and Softball) Registration will be 1/1/23 – 1/31/23

Junior Crusaders

After the first year of piloting a program for our youngest students, we’re excited to add more offerings for this coming year, with a similar programming as the past. Junior Crusaders is a 5-week long, developmental introduction to CYO Sports for our PreK3 through 3^rd graders.  This coming year we will offer:

1. Soccer:
Saturdays 8/20/22 - 9/24/22 (Excludes Labor Day Weekend)
Registration period: 6/15/22 – 6/30/22 

2. 1^st – 3^rd Grade Basketball:
Saturdays 10/15/22 - 11/12/22
Registration period: 8/15/22 – 8/31/22

3.  Cheer:
Saturdays 1/7/23 - 2/4/23
Registration period: 11/1/22 – 11/15/22

4.  PreK3 – Kindergarten Basketball:
Saturdays 2/25/23 – 3/25/23
Registration period: 12/1/22 – 12/15/22

5.  Small Ball (T-Ball & Coach Pitch):
Saturdays 4/22/23 – 5/20/23
Registration period: 2/14/23 – 2/28/23

*Dates are currently tentative until Parish calendar planning is completed at the end of May.

CYO Fees

The CYO of Detroit informed all Parishes at our Spring Athletic Director meeting that they would be increasing the team registration and individual participant fees for the 2022-23 sports cycle, as well as referee/officials fees in an effort to pay officials a similar rate as other youth sports programs.  The only changes that are being made to our registration fees at OLGC are a decrease in the annual maintenance fee that is charged once per family, during registration for their first sport, it will be reduced from $100 to $50 for the 2022-23 year, and a change to the Junior Crusaders Program; the new registration fee will be $75 per sport.  The original fee of $50 was set with consideration to the higher maintenance fee of $100 in anticipation of these changes being made.  All other sports will remain at their current rates for the upcoming 2022-23 seasons.

Volunteering

Our CYO program is always in need of volunteers during the seasons, whether as coaches, coordinators, or in other supporting roles.  There are many ways to directly get involved, and many benefits of involvement.  If you are a OLGC School Parent, you may claim your volunteering for your required DOVES hours every year.  Anyone who coaches within the CYO Program must complete the Safe Environment requirements: https://school.olgcparish.net/safe-environments/  It is something that is great to have already completed, even if you don’t currently have any plans to coach, the requirements are the same that would allow you to volunteer at OLGC School.  There is a tab to register as a sport specific volunteer when you register your student on our athletics website, or you may also contact me directly if you are interested.
